Echota Neighborhood Project:

UPDATE:  Hey everyone, 43 A Street is completely done and the Hutchinson family is all moved in!!  Praise God, not only for this wonderful family but for all the incredible volunteers (too numerous to mention) that worked so hard to get this house done by our AHC Grant deadline.  Our contractors and supervisory staff really pulled out all the stops to make sure we met this milestone date and not jeopardize the receipt of our grant monies.  I would also like to thank Mary Vivona of Habitat NYS for all her personal attention on assisting Niagara Habitat in completing the volumes of paperwork (that always go with every grant) required.  It would not have gone so smoothly without her patient attention to details. Thanks too for the City of Niagara Falls Inspections Department for working within such a tight schedule to conduct the various inspections required to be conducted and documented.

We began 42 ‘A’ Street in June.   Currently, the exterior walls are going up with the roof trusses soon to arrive on site.  We had a mishap with vandals packing the inside of the porta-potty with large chunks of mud (even in the exhaust stack) rendering the “spot” completely unusable.  I’m sure Modern was thrilled having to “excavate” through all the rocks, mud and other materials jammed inside.  FYI – someone says the little darlings because that took some serious time to load the entire inside up with huge chunks of mud off our “backfill” pile.  Email me or call the Niagara Habitat line and let me know who did this!!

Welcome to Bill Lewis, our new Construction Manager.  He’s been with us for a few years and volunteered to take on the position of Construction Manager when our former Manager, Ken Hernik could no longer continue in that capacity.   Thanks to both gentlemen for their dedication to Niagara Area Habitat’s effort to build decent, affordable housing for God’s people in need.
